I did it! They are out! The extensions are gone and my hair is all mine again.
Now let me back up as of the last time we talked I was going to have my extensions in for 2 more rounds. SO I went in to my amazing hair dresser to get them moved back up. If you are not familiar with the process of this, it is long and it gets expensive! The extensions must be removed one strip at a time, they then need to be cleaned and have new tape be applied. In the meantime, your hair will usually be a sticky yet oily mess that will almost always need washed. You can’t put the extensions back in until the hair is dry so normally I sit under a dryer. All of this typically takes 2 to 3 hours and that is without color or anything, just the extension process.
So I had them all taken out and my hair washed, which feels amazing might I add after not being able to touch your scalp for 4 weeks. And I did something a little different. For some reason, I had this feeling like I needed to just blow dry it like I would at home and just see how it was looking. I asked my hair dresser if I could do that and of course she said sure. I got it all dry and to my surprise it wasn’t dreadful. It was different…very different, but somehow it was looking a little fuller in the back. The gap was less noticeable than the last time I was in. Sitting in the chair looking in the mirror, all I could think about was how I could either sit there for another hour and half and get them put back in, or I could go ahead and ditch them and head home to my family.
My hair appointment was on a Friday and my appointment with the gene specialist is scheduled for this Wednesday, so that was really weighing on my mind as well. After I felt like I was blown off by the dermatologists since I had them in, I really wanted to be taken seriously at my next appointment. I took a breath and did what anyone would do…. I took a snapchat and sent it to my mom and my sisters and said how bad is it? Lol. I know I can trust them to be honest! To my surprise, they all really liked it! They said it was different but good and that they thought it would be more beneficial for the growth and health of my hair over all. So I went in to Meghan and said “I’m going to leave them out!” and as always, she was totally supportive and on board.
For the first time in a long time, I left the salon feeling light and kind of excited to see what was going to happen next. Yes, it was quite a change, but it was also like a new beginning. I have NEVER had short hair and it was now just below my shoulders. It ended up looking like a long bob…or a Lob. It was a style I had honestly searched on Pinterest and really liked, but never had an enough confidence to pull off. Well now I was going to have to learn to rock it!
Another thing I did while I was still at the Salon, was ask my sister to hook me up with some Monat. I do not sell it and neither does she, but her results have been amazing and I am willing to try anything at this point.
That’s all I have for now! I will let you know what the Gene Specialists have to say! Fingers crossed (:

Thanks for reading and as always, stay sassy.
